Dr Rob Nickels

Dr Rob Nickels MB CHB MRCP FRACP
 
Dr Nickels immigrated to Australia from the United Kingdom in 2001, where he worked at the Gold Coast Hospital for 2 years. He completed his FRACP in Respiratory Medicine at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and both the Royal Perth Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospitals in Western Australia. 
 
Dr Nickels graduated from Bristol University in 1996 and completed his MRCP in 1999 and had much experience working in hospitals throughout England such as Weston General Hospital in Weston-Super-Mare, St Mary's Hospital and Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth before relocating to Australia.  
 
Rob Nickels has worked as a Respiratory Physician at both John Flynn Private Hospital and Tweed Heads Public Hospital since January 2006. He is currently Deputy Chairperson of the Division of Medicine Medical Advisory Committee at the John Flynn Private Hospital and is actively involved in teaching medical students from both Griffith and Bond Universities.
 
Dr Nickels co-ordinates both the Gold Coast Respiratory Meeting monthly and the Multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Meeting fortnightly.
 
His special interests in respiratory medicine include Lung Cancer and Asbestos-related lung conditions; he is honoured to be Patron of the Asbestos and Mesothelioma Support Group on the Gold Coast.
 
Although Dr Nickels enjoys life with his young family on the Gold Coast, he values the importance of professional development and regularly attends regional and national conferences/meetings to maintain up-to-date knowledge of respiratory and general medicine.
